Three playwrights, Jessie Jones, Nicholas Hope and Jamie Wooten came together to craft a load of comedies and they have done so under the pseudonym of Jones Hope Wooten. Always a Bridesmaid is typical of their slapstick rubbing against real life possibilities.

In Always A Bridesmaid, we meet four older ladies who have stuck together as BFFs since their school days, and through more marriages and separations then one may recall. This one is a chick show with a cast of six hard working ladies; Kate Guyton, Leslie Kimbell, Carrie Moll, Lateefah Mosley, Kathleen Seconder an Barbara Wshington. The scene is set at a function venue called Laurelton Oaks, where these four gals have all attended each other’s vows as bridesmaids.

They have to put up with each others’ peculiarities and viewpoints on wedded bliss. The time line runs about 30 years from school days to today; and starts with a practice speech by the bride of the day, whose ceremony may not be taking off quite as planned. And Sedalia comes and goes as the function manager trying to make sense out of a totally insane situation.

The show really takes off in Act II, and the audience goes wild when they show up for the function, and maybe they are a little dysfunctional. But they do put the FUN back into those words.

This one is a non-stop laugh-fest. Free parking, good seating, and bring your mask. More info and tickets at OnstageAtlanta.com
