Rock of Ages is a jukebox musical built around classic rock songs from the 1980s, especially from the famous bands of that decade. The musical features songs from Styx, Journey, Bon Jovi, Pat Benatar, Twisted Sister, Steve Perry, Poison and Europe, among other well-known rock bands.

Set in Hollywood, where liquor flows freely at one of the Sunset Strips last legendary venues. a place where sex machine played by Branden Hembree show up, and the groupies line up to turn their fantasies into reality. Amidst the madness, aspiring rock star (and resident toilet cleaner) Drew (Brian Slayton) longs to take the stage as the next big thing (and longs for small-town girl Sherrie (Izzi Robles), fresh off the bus from Kansas.

But some German developers sweep into town with plans to turn the fabled Strip into just another capitalist strip mall. Can Drew, Sherrie and the gang save the strip – and themselves – before it’s too late? Only the music of hit bands of those days could hold the answer.

This is a loud, heavy musical that has been around since 2005 and is still exciting crowds. The show is directed by Charlie Miller.  And the live band under Paul Tate, moves things along with total energy.  More info and tickets at OnstageAtlanta.com
